Iran is one of the world’s established origins for commercial date production, and Jahrom in Fars Province has a long trading history built around dates and citrus. For importers, the value of sourcing from Jahrom is not simply access to fruit. It is access to multiple varieties, experienced sorting and packing teams, specialized cold storage and flexible export arrangements.

Why source Iranian dates from Jahrom?

Jahrom’s date trade combines agricultural knowledge with export infrastructure. Buyers can source varieties with different moisture levels, colours, textures and price positions—from soft dates for premium retail packs to semi-dry dates suited to longer transport and wholesale distribution.

Jahrom Dates, also known in India and Arab markets as Mardani Trading, began exporting in 1987 under founder Haji Rasoul Mardani. Today, the operation brings direct purchasing, in-house sorting, quality control, packing and specialized date storage into one supply chain. A 3,000-tonne specialized cold-storage facility supports product availability and export during all 12 months of the year.

Exporting Iranian dates to India

India is one of our core export markets. Its size, diverse retail channels and broad consumer demand create opportunities for several Iranian date varieties and packaging formats. Importers may require bulk cartons for repacking, consumer-ready packs or private-label production. The right choice depends on target price, distribution channel, storage conditions and the desired shelf presentation.

Food imports into India are processed through the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. FSSAI states that its Food Import Clearance System is integrated with Indian Customs ICEGATE and uses risk-based sampling and testing. Importers should confirm current product, labelling and clearance requirements before each shipment through the official FSSAI import portal.

What Indian buyers commonly evaluate

  • Variety, grade, moisture and size consistency
  • Bulk versus consumer-ready packaging
  • Labelling aligned with the importer’s current regulatory requirements
  • Cold-chain needs for soft dates such as Mazafati
  • FOB, CIF and other agreed delivery arrangements

Exporting Iranian dates to the United Arab Emirates

The UAE is both a major consumer market and an important regional trading and re-export hub. Buyers range from wholesalers and supermarkets to hospitality suppliers and companies serving neighbouring markets. Premium presentation can be important, but dependable documentation, packing accuracy and delivery planning remain essential.

Dubai Municipality provides food import, release and re-export services, and its published Food Code describes registration and food-item approval processes within its food import and re-export system. Requirements can change, so buyers should verify the latest steps directly through Dubai Municipality’s Food Safety services.

For UAE orders, Jahrom Dates can discuss private labels, retail packs, wholesale cartons and agreed CIF or FOB terms. The appropriate format should be selected around the buyer’s emirate, sales channel and onward distribution plan.

Supplying Iranian dates to Somalia

Somalia is another established destination for our exports. In this market, buyers often place strong emphasis on dependable supply, commercially practical packing and clear communication around shipment timing. Product mix may include semi-dry and wholesale-oriented varieties alongside selected retail formats.

Somalia’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry identifies agro-processing—including date value chains—among the country’s industrial sectors and leads federal work related to trade and private-sector development. Importers should confirm the current licensing, customs and food requirements with their local authorities and logistics partners. The Somalia Ministry of Commerce and Industry is an official starting point.

Iranian date varieties available for export

Shahani dates

A signature variety associated with Jahrom, valued for its sweet flavour and soft-to-semi-dry texture depending on harvest and grade.

Mazafati dates

Dark, soft and high in moisture. Mazafati generally requires closer temperature management during storage and transport.

Rabbi dates

An elongated semi-dry date suitable for buyers seeking good transport stability and an attractive premium appearance.

Zahedi dates

A golden semi-dry variety commonly considered for wholesale trade, food service and industrial applications.

Piarom dates

A premium elongated date with distinctive appearance, often positioned for higher-value retail and gifting segments.

What to ask an Iranian date supplier

A low quoted price does not by itself make a reliable export order. Before buying, importers should request a precise product specification and align all commercial details in writing.

  1. Confirm the variety and grade. Ask for size range, moisture, crop year, colour and acceptable tolerances.
  2. Define the packaging. Confirm net weight, inner pack, master carton, pallet arrangement and label responsibility.
  3. Agree on quality documents. Discuss health certification, quality-control tests and documents required by the destination.
  4. Set the trade terms. Clarify whether the offer is FOB, CIF or another Incoterm and identify the exact named port.
  5. Plan storage and transit. Soft and semi-dry varieties do not have identical temperature and handling needs.
